The Woman Behind Mellow Bliss Goods

Hi, I'm Heather Norwood, the owner and maker behind Mellow Bliss Goods.

Mellow Bliss Goods started from something very personal to me.

Life can be chaotic. Between working a full-time job, raising two teenagers, being a mom, managing everyday responsibilities, and simply trying to keep up with everything life throws at you, I needed something that was just for me.

I needed an outlet.

I needed something that allowed me to slow down, be creative, and use my hands to create something beautiful.

That's when I started making soap.

At first, I had no idea where this little journey would take me. I was learning everything from the ground up—researching ingredients, learning how different oils and butters work, learning about fragrance, experimenting with recipes, figuring out molds, colors, designs, packaging, labeling, and so much more.

There were successes.

There were mistakes.

There were batches that didn't turn out the way I imagined.

And there were plenty of moments when I wondered if I could really turn this little hobby into something more.

But I kept going.

More Than Just Soap

Over time, making soap became so much more than a hobby.

I started creating body scrubs, body butters, lotion bars, candles, liquid hand soaps, dish soaps, lip balms, tallow products, and other handmade goods.

With every new product, I learned something.

I researched.

I tested.

I experimented.

I started over when something wasn't right.

I kept learning how to make better products and how to build something that I could truly be proud of.

And I did all of this while continuing to work my full-time job and raise my children.

A lot of what you don't see behind a small business happens after everyone else has gone to bed.

It's the late nights making products.

The kitchen covered in supplies.

The hours spent researching ingredients.

The packaging.

The labeling.

The photographs.

The website.

The market preparation.

The cleaning.

The planning.

The worrying.

The dreaming.

And then doing it all over again.

Finding Something Beautiful During Difficult Times

This journey has also happened during some of the hardest moments of my life.

Recently, I lost my mother to cancer.

There are no perfect words for that kind of loss.

Grief changes you.

There are days when you feel like you're moving forward, and days when simply getting through the day feels like an accomplishment.

During those difficult times, creating became even more meaningful to me.

When I could step into my kitchen and create something with my own hands, it gave me a place to breathe.

It gave me something to focus on.

It gave me a little peace.

And perhaps most importantly, it reminded me that I was still capable of creating something beautiful, even when life didn't feel beautiful.

That's where the name Mellow Bliss Goods means so much to me.

It's about finding those little moments of peace and happiness in the middle of life's chaos.

Sometimes that might be taking a relaxing bath with a handmade bar of soap.

Sometimes it's lighting a candle.

Sometimes it's using a body butter or scrub that makes you feel good.

And sometimes it's simply taking a few minutes for yourself.

Those little moments matter.

Every Product Has a Piece of Me in It

When you purchase something from Mellow Bliss Goods, you're not buying something that came off a massive production line.

You're buying something that I personally made.

I choose the ingredients.

I create and test my recipes.

I experiment with scents and designs.

I make the products.

I package them.

I label them.

I photograph them.

I prepare them for markets.

And I put my heart into every step.

I strive to create handmade products using ingredients you can actually pronounce and products that I would be proud to use in my own home.

I want you to know what you're buying and who made it.

Me.

Heather.

A mom.

A full-time working woman.

A daughter who misses her mom.

A woman who needed an outlet and found something that became so much bigger than she ever expected.

I'm still learning.

I'm still experimenting.

I'm still coming up with new ideas in my kitchen.

And I'm still dreaming about what this little business can become.
